The Columbia University MSA provides several religious programs to meet the needs of Muslims on campus.

August 1st: Rooms C & D (Interchurch Center)
August 8th: Sockman Lounge (Interchurch Center)
August 15th: James Room (4th floor of Barnard Hall)
August 22nd: Sockman Lounge (Interchurch Center)
August 29th: Sockman Lounge (Interchurch Center)
A request has also been put in for a space for September 5th; we will update this post with news of that jumu’ah as soon as we hear back. The Interchurch Center is located at 475 Riverside Drive behind Barnard’s campus between West 119th and West 120th Streets – you can enter from either Claremont Avenue or Riverside Drive. Barnard Hall is located on Barnard’s campus – it is building directly facing the main gates on West 117th Street.
During the academic year, Jumu’ah prayers are held weekly on Fridays in the upper level of Earl Hall. The khutbah (sermon) takes place at approximately 1:15 to 1:50 PM and the prayer concludes at approximately 2:00. For weekly updates on Jumu’ah, please refer to our Facebook page and contact us requesting to be added to our mailing list.
The Columbia MSA is currently seeking trained khutabaa (speakers) or equally qualified individuals to give khutaab. If you are interested, please contact us.
During the school year, students have access to two prayer spaces on campus. The Earl prayer room is located in the lower level of Earl Hall, room 102. In addition to jamaat prayers, students can access the room from 9 AM to 10 PM on weekdays (it is closed on weekends) and obtain the code by asking a board member. Alternatively, students can use the Nussbaum prayer room on the 12th floor of Nussbaum (600 W. 113th St., located at 113th Street and Broadway). This room is open 24/7 – in order to gain access to the room, sign in at the front desk and ask the security guard for the key to room 12B2. Finally, students can access the Milbank prayer room (which is women’s only), located in the basement of Milbank Hall in room 18, near the Office of the Bursar. The room is open from 9 AM to 10 PM. Please ask a board member for the code if you cannot get in.
Please check here regularly for updated congregational prayer times. If the times are inaccurate, please do not hesitate to contact us with the updated times.
