The Columbia University MSA provides several religious programs to meet the needs of Muslims on campus.
During the academic year, Jumu’ah prayers are held weekly on Fridays in the upper level of Earl Hall. The khutbah (sermon) takes place at approximately 1:15 to 1:30 PM and the prayer concludes at approximately 2:00. For weekly updates on Jumu’ah, please refer to our Facebook page and contact us requesting to be added to our mailing list.
The Columbia MSA is currently seeking trained khutabaa (speakers) or equally qualified individuals to give khutaab. If you are interested, please contact us.
During the school year, students have access to two prayer spaces on campus. The Earl prayer room is located in the lower level of Earl Hall, room 102. In addition to jamaat prayers, students can access the room from 9 AM to 10 PM on weekdays (it is closed on weekends) and obtain the code by asking a board member. Alternatively, students can use the Nussbaum prayer room on the 12th floor of Nussbaum (600 W. 113th St., located at 113th Street and Broadway). This room is open 24/7 – in order to gain access to the room, sign in at the front desk and ask the security guard for the key to room 12B2. Finally, students can access the Milbank prayer room (which is women’s only), located in the basement of Milbank Hall in room 18, near the Office of the Bursar. The room is open from 9 AM to 10 PM. Please ask a board member for the code if you cannot get in.
Please check here regularly for updated congregational prayer times. If the times are inaccurate, please do not hesitate to contact us with the updated times.
